‘Grief is the price we pay for love’ were the powerful words that Queen Elizabeth used when honouring those who had lost their lives to a terrorist attack in a very different world, one long-ago September.
Events like the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, can start a conversation about death that you might not have otherwise had or can trigger feelings of grief and bereavement that you thought were long behind you. Even though many of us may not have known someone personally, it’s important to recognise that someone who meant so much to so many, may have an impact on how we all feel and think about end of life and loss. Our community feels like it jolted a little last week – and that can be disconcerting. Particularly if you’re affected by cancer yourself or a loved one is.
Honouring and remembering is an important part of the bereavement journey – that doesn’t mean it’s easy and it’s often unexpected and hard to navigate.
We understand. And there is a whole community of organisations that you can refer to for support (see details below).
The loss and grief left after death is immeasurable, but so are the memories and love that are left behind. Let’s make sure that we make every day count.
