#TeamEve seal the deal…

Phew, what a busy week for Team Eve last week. We hosted our annual Festival of Carols concert, the London College of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetic Executive Women held a Bubbles & Bush night to raise funds for the charity and we attended ICAP’s annual Charity Day.

How to describe Charity Day in a nutshell? Well, the formal description is that it’s an annual event where for one day of the year, ICAP offices across the globe donate all its revenue and commission to a select group of charities. To give you a sense of scale, over 24 years ICAP has given charities nearly £135 million.

This year, The Eve Appeal was lucky enough to be selected as one of the few charities to receive funding – no mean feat given that we were told that ICAP receives up to five applications from charities each day of the year. You do the maths, that’s a lot of applications!

The funds raised will support FORECEE – a risk prediction programme to provide one test for four women-specific cancers – and specifically an item of analysis equipment that will make a huge difference to pace at which our team of scientists can deliver results.

If you’ve not seen media coverage of the Charity Day, I’ll try to paint a picture. Imagine walking into office of over 1,500 staff in fancy dress, vying for the most outlandish and extravagant outfit. On one floor we visited, each desk represented a different era ranging from the pre-war era through to the swinging 70s, and on another floor sat lots of Donald Trump impersonators alongside a handful of people dressed as Mexicans and others dressed as walls. You begin to get the picture. Totally mad and lots of fun.

Our celebrity ambassadors played a major role on the day – attending the event and representing The Eve Appeal including: Dr Christian Jessen, Helena Morrissey CBE, Cherry Healey, Helen Lederer and Dr Pixie McKenna. They were all given a tour of the ICAP offices, meeting and greeting a lot of brokers in fancy dress, taking part in activities and games organised by the charities, and most importantly, getting on the phone to help ICAP’s brokers close deals to raise as much money as possible for charity.

In total the day raised just over £8 million for a fantastic array of charities and causes.

Thanks to the team at ICAP and to our Ambassadors for putting in so much energy and effort to make the day a roaring success.

Love Team Eve
