Squirrels and dress-making – all in aid of #TeamEve

The Cocktail Hour blogger tour returns, and sees 20 designs chosen from McCall’s Vogue Patterns range for a new social sew-along; encouraging all those sewing enthusiasts-cum-bloggers (and we know you’re all out there!) to start creating their masterpieces; all in the name of charity! We’re very fortunate that through our partnership, McCall will be making a donation for every pattern sold to help protect women of today, and women of the future against gynaecological cancers.

Fresh off the machine…

Gabby Young, whose blog GabberDashery, takes us through all her sewing and dressmaking adventures. The passion for sewing began in October 2014 after she completed a ‘sew a dress in a day’ class and was immediately hooked on sewing. Gabby claims that sewing has taken over her life and she couldn’t be happier! So much so, she recently took part in McCall Pattern’s campaign #sipandsew in aid of The Eve Appeal – where she blogged about her experience.

Gabby chose pattern Vogue 1484 for her creation

Gabby confesses that her creation is ‘a bit out there’ evident by the neon hot-pink colour scheme and squirrel pattern, claiming she’s ‘not one to play by halves’ – which we here at Eve think is very clear!

“I actually hadn’t even considered this pattern yet I just knew I had to have the fabric! It wasn’t until later on that I realised I had managed to buy the PERFECT fabric for this dress – without even realising!”

Gaby mentions in her blog post that the pattern wasn’t the easiest to work from, and that she fully ‘Gabbyed’ her way through a few parts – including a collar piece which had seemingly taken a ‘rather 90s turn’.

Yet she was “in love with the dress. It was a labour of love and I am really happy with the outcome.” We’re pleased, because we loved the squirrels too!

#TeamEve are certainly pleased that Gabby likes her creation, so a huge THANK YOU Gabby for supporting The Eve Appeal by taking part in the #SipandSew campaign.
