We are challenging you to take on 1,800 sit-ups in 30 days. That’s 60 sit-ups a day for the 60 women and people who are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every day in the UK.
How you complete this challenge is completely up to you. You could do 60 sit-ups all at once or break them down however you like, for example 20 in the morning, 20 at lunchtime and 20 in the evening.
There are lots of videos and tips online to help you do a sit-up safely and correctly. Here are some tips and techniques from Tough Mudder UK: https://toughmudder.co.uk/blog/no-excuses/how-to-do-a-sit-up/
If you’d like to increase the challenge of your sit-ups, then you can add weights.
No, the challenge is free to sign up for.
We are encouraging you to raise £30 in sponsorship, £1 for each day you are doing your sit-ups.
By raising £30 (or more), you can help fund vital research into the prevention and earlier detection of the five gynaecological cancers whilst also helping to raise awareness of their signs and symptoms. Your support could help save lives for generations to come.
You will receive your Eve Appeal t-shirt within 10 days after receiving the first donation on your JustGiving page, including any donations you add yourself.
All UK residents who raise £30 (or more) will receive a medal in the post to say thank you. You don’t need to do anything to claim your medal, we’ll pop it in the post, and you should receive it around 6 weeks after the event.
Set up a JustGiving page to fundraise.
You’ll also receive a sponsorship form in your welcome pack should you like to collect cash or cheque donations. These can be banked either by:
- Giving us a call on 020 7605 0100.
- Requesting a paying in slip to use at your local HSBC bank.
- Sending a cheque to The Eve Appeal, 10-18 Union Street, London, SE1 1SZ.
- Visiting donate.eveappeal.org.uk to pay in online.
In your welcome pack you can print off the sit-up challenge calendar to note how many you do each day.
We completely understand that it might be hard to collect money from friends and family at the moment. One of our top tips is to ask people for smaller donations e.g. £4 and to let them know that whatever they can donate can make a difference, included in your welcome pack are more tips to help with your fundraising.
Although we are encouraging you to complete your 1,800 sit-ups in 30 days, this is your challenge, and you should adapt it to suit you. Don’t worry if your challenge takes longer than 30 days, just keep us updated on how you are doing.
Absolutely, please do just get in touch either by emailing fundraising@eveappeal.org.uk or by calling 020 7605 0100 and we’d be happy to talk through some ideas on how you can get involved.
