We are challenging you to complete 10,000 steps a day throughout September (Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month) to help save more lives from gynaecological cancers.

We’d recommend that you complete 10,000 steps a day (300,000 steps throughout September). However, you are welcome to break this up in anyway that suits you. Use the September Steps Tracker in your fundraising pack to track how far you’ve done and how many steps you’ve got left to do. Alternatively, you can track your distance using Strava or Fitbit and link your account to your JustGiving page.

No, the challenge is free to sign up for.

Yes, we are asking you to raise £25 in sponsorship which can help to:

  • fund important research to catch gynaecological cancers earlier when they are most treatable
  • educate more people on the signs and symptoms so they know when something might be wrong
  • ensure that our nurses can continue to offer expert support and advice to anyone worried about their gynae health

Please set up a JustGiving page to fundraise.

You’ll also receive a sponsorship form in your welcome pack should you like to collect cash or cheque donations. These can be banked either by:

  • Giving us a call on 020 7605 0100.
  • Requesting a paying in slip to use at your local HSBC bank.
  • Sending a cheque to The Eve Appeal, 10 – 18 Union Street, London, SE1 1SZ.
  • Visiting donate.eveappeal.org.uk to pay in online – just make sure you put September Steps Challenge in the comment box.

You will receive your t-shirt within 10-15 days after receiving the first donation on your JustGiving page, including any donations you add yourself.

We recommend either using Strava or Fitbit to track your distance – you can also link these two apps to your JustGiving page so your progress will be shared with your supporters. For instructions on how to connect Strava to JustGiving click here, and for Fitbit click here.

You can run, walk, jog, skip or wheel your steps – the choice is yours.

Absolutely! There are a few different ways you can take part and track your steps:

  • Many wrist worn activity trackers such as Garmin, Fitbit, Apple Watch, no allow wheelchair users to track their activity and covert to steps
  • Add an odometer, which can be purchased from a cycle or sports equipment store, and attach it to your wheelchair. This will monitor the distance covered each day. The distance can then be converted to steps: 1km = 1,312 steps

We are encouraging everyone to complete their challenge in September. However, if you are joining the challenge later, need more time or need to get started early then that’s fine – do just let us know.

We completely understand that it might be hard to collect money from friends and family at the moment. One of our top tops is to ask people for smaller donations, for example £3, and to let them know that whatever they can donate can make a difference. Included in your welcome pack are more tips to help with your fundraising.
